Golden Eagles Program
Youth programming focused on Native culture and traditions
The Ginew / Golden Eagles program enhances the resiliency of American Indian youth through curricula, activities, and fieldtrips focusing on culture; healthy lifestyles; academic success; workforce readiness; leadership; and relationships with caring adults.
ELIGIBILITY
- Priority is given to American Indian youth ages 5-18. Youth who do not identify as American Indian are welcome to participate in our American Indian culturally focused programs.
SERVICES
- Group programming twice per week for each youth—content varies week to week.
- Tutoring with program staff and student volunteers from area colleges and universities, encouraging comprehension and completion of homework.
- One-on-one academic support, including goal setting, advocacy, etc.
- Youth intervention services for program participants needing specialized assistance with overcoming challenges they face with truancy, the judicial system, chemical dependency, etc.
- Meal provided at programming.
- Transportation to and from program as needed (limited capacity).
MEETING SCHEDULE
- Youth ages 5 to 11 meet Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Youth ages 12-18 meet on Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- One-on-one academic support and intervention services will vary and occur as needed.
