Job Description

POSITION: Teen Tech Center Assistant

PROGRAM: Boys & Girls Club of the Minneapolis American Indian Center

SALARY: $17.00-$20.00 per hour/20-25 hours per week/Non-exempt

BENEFITS:  401(k) retirement match up to 5% of annual salary if working more than 20 hours per week; PTO; generous paid holiday schedule; access to fitness center and gym

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Teen Tech Center Assistant is to supervise youth; assist with engaging youth in a project-based learning; and providing overall operational assistance to the Teen Tech Center Coordinator.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with supervising youth during onsite and off-site activities and events.
  • Assist in providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for youth.
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and implementation of youth activities, workshops and events that are aligned with organizational objectives and goals.
  • Assist with transporting youth to/from home, program site, and off-site activities.
  • Assist with administering youth snack and meal service program.
  • Assist with maintaining clean and organized program areas and vehicles.
  • Report and assist with any technology troubleshooting needs.
  • Providing academic tutoring to youth as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Teen Tech Center Coordinator.
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with youth, families, program partners, volunteers, and staff.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience engaging American Indian youth and/or families in an out-of-school time setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Twin Cities American Indian community, cultural values, and cultural practices is preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for learning, exploring, and teaching about the various applications of technology.
  • Great interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Should be a self-starter; demonstrate an ability to initiate and complete tasks.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, be insurable, and able to operate a company owned vehicle.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • This is an onsite role, except during field trips and youth transport to/from the Club.
  • Days of work are typically Monday through Friday, with a combination of daytime and evening hours, and occasional weekends. Schedule varies from summer to schoolyear.
