POSITION: Research Associate
PROGRAM: Two Rivers Gallery
SALARY: Contract – $25/hr for 200 hours
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
To assist in providing in-depth research for the Minneapolis American Indian Center, its founders, people, and community fostering a greater appreciation, interest, and awareness of the historical events and ideals behind its existence. The associate will be responsible for writing collaboratively on research findings while developing a framework for an Interpretation Plan. This includes assisting with providing community protocols for obtaining oral histories, tribal community engagement, scheduling, note taking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred majors/minors in Native American Indian/Indigenous Studies, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation, Art History, Public History, Curatorial Studies, Collections management, art handling, and archival research experience is desired.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to write clearly and effectively convey complex ideas to a general audience. Knowledge of basic museum standards with knowledge of collections, museum/gallery activities and standard procedures. Role includes logistical support and multitasking skills in direct relation to conducting thorough research on the art collections and archives incorporating a variety of resources. Assist in community outreach, respond to requests regarding interpretive, collections, and archival projects.
